When we decided to build our home in the Okanagan, the stars aligned and we met Mike Makasoff. Anyone who has ever built a home knows that the process is long, full of unexpected difficulties and can be taxing. Mike handles each step with expertise and a positive approach. Beyond the technicalities of building, Mike has other gifts that make working with him a pleasure. He understands people and is skilled at dealing with many different types of personalities. Deciding to build your Okanagan dream home is a significant investment in emotion, time, and money. Going through this process once is a unique experience but going through it three times as my family did is crazy unless the builder you’ve hired is exceptional in his approach to partnering with you and your family’s dreams. Mike Makasoff is exceptional! 

We hired Mike the first time in 2007 when we purchased a modern post and beam house he had built two years earlier. Our vision was to add on a 2000 sqft wing consisting of several garages, residence, and climbing wall. This project was a test of Makasoff’s design, engineering, carpentry and management skills. The process from design and permitting through subcontractor selection and management and the all important delivery of results convinced our family that Mike truly has a special mix of builder skill sets. 

This process convinced us to hire Mike to design and build our cottage lake home in the West Kootenays and again our Mountain home at Silver Star. The results of each of these projects are exceptional. Our family dreams were made exactly real with the care, passion, and trust Mike and Kim delivered. 

When it came time to build an office building we again hired Mike as the General and he again delivered the award winning commercial building on time and on budget. The van Soest’s whole heartedly and without reservation recommend Makasoff Construction.

When you have an opportunity to build your dream house you want everything to be perfect and Mike and his crew understand that. They built our house as if it were theirs.
